I see the posts, the Kit, Monopoly, and the GNYS stuff. How does it all connect?”

Fair question. Let me try to answer it.

There’s a thing I can’t stop seeing.

I read labels. Of people. Of businesses. I look at what someone says they are, then I look at how they’re actually perceived.

Two different stories. Almost always.

A CEO says, “We’re customer-obsessed.” Their customers say, “It took three weeks to get a response.”

A founder says, “We own this category.” The market names three competitors interchangeably.

A company says “premium.” Customers say, “overpriced for what you get.”

The gap between what you believe about yourself and what others actually experience — that’s the thing I can’t stop seeing.

And here’s the problem: no one can read their own label.

You can’t see it from inside the bottle. You can’t hear what people say when you’re not in the room. The closer you are to the work, the harder it is to see how it lands.

For years, I’ve helped people surface this gap. Manually. One conversation at a time. It’s the core of the positioning work I do. NOT messaging, not branding, but surfacing the distance between inside (business) and outside (brand) so you can actually close it.

That work hasn’t changed. But I kept running into the same constraint:

I can only be in so many rooms.

The CEOs who needed a thinking partner at midnight, I couldn’t be there.

The agencies that needed to diagnose a client before kickoff, I couldn’t do it for every engagement.

The M&A team who needed to know what customers actually believed before signing the LOI — that’s not in the data room.

The gap was everywhere. I could only surface it in a few places.

Over the past year, I’ve been developing ways to extend the work.

The CEO Clarity Starter Kit came from watching founders and CEOs sit in the same isolation. Everyone around them has an agenda, and no one’s job is to help them see clearly. The Kit is the diagnostic I used to run manually, structured so that they can run it themselves.

Monopoly came from the realization that the information about the gap already exists, it’s just scattered across fifty platforms, and no one has time to synthesize it. Monopoly does in minutes what used to take me weeks: surface the gap between what companies claim and what customers actually believe.

ClarityGPT and GNYS ‘Genius’ came from watching what happens after someone gets a Monopoly report or finishes the Clarity Kit. They see the gap. They understand the problem. And then they get stuck. What does this mean for our roadmap? How do I explain this to my board? Why can’t I get my team to see what I’m seeing? The translation from insight to action, that’s where most people spin. These exist to be the thinking partner in that moment. Same questions I’d ask. Same way I’d push back. Available when I’m not.

And the deep engagements, the handful of clients I work with each year, are still the core. The place where we wrestle with the hard stuff together, in real time, over months.

Different depths.
Different contexts.
Same obsession.

I read labels.
No one can read theirs.

Everything I’ve built exists to help surface the gap.

I wrote a longer piece this week that maps where the gap hides: across M&A, procurement, consulting, agencies, and product teams. The patterns are the same everywhere. The cost of missing it is higher than most people realize. If you’ve ever made a decision based on what someone said about themselves, only to discover reality looked different, it’ll resonate.

→ The Gap You’re Signing Into

And if any of what I described above is relevant to where you are right now — the Kit, Monopoly, the deeper work — you know where to find me.

Paul Syng

PAULSYNG.COM

♛ 03.02.2026 I read labels Read Time: 4 Minutes Hello A few of you have asked some version of this question lately: “Paul — what are you actually building?
