What are we even talking about here?<\/p>\n<p>In two decades of my career, this question or some version of it has been my role in most rooms.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve worked on everything from designing gelato stores, schools, colleges, and restaurants from scratch to creating corporate architectures for complex logistics companies and building strategies for sports teams.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve sat side by side with the senior-most partners in consulting environments, solving complex, refuse-to-lose bids and winning over $2 billion in strategic deals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve worked with solo founders, entrepreneurs, and organizations at every scale.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, I keep finding myself asking:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we actually solving the right problem here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s the real point we\u2019re trying to make?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoes this even make sense to anyone?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Far too often, I walk into conversations where post-it notes from \u201cdesign-thinking\u201d workshops, frameworks, charts, and checklists dominate the walls.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They look impressive: systematic and logical, even.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the outputs?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re stored in digital Narnia and will never be implemented.<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Because they\u2019re just a fa\u00e7ade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A way to say, \u201cLook, we followed the process; don\u2019t fire me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s what Chris Argyris calls single-loop learning: going through the motions without addressing the core problem.<\/p>\n<p>The reality is.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>99.9% of the most complex problems get solved by starting with humans and asking fundamental questions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who are we helping?<br \/> &#8211; Why does this matter?<br \/> &#8211; What are we really trying to say?<br \/> &#8211; When do we act?<br \/> &#8211; Where is this taking us?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The rest is just noise. The naval-gazing delusion that distracts us from what\u2019s truly required.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019m comfortable being the \u201cstupidest\u201d person in the room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I refuse to get lost in the fluff, constantly asking:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, what\u2019s the simplest way to make this work for humans?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we solving for clarity or just creating noise?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the real work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Helping people unlearn the noise so we can focus on humans, minimize risk, reduce complexity, and get to the heart of what\u2019s required.<\/p>\n<p>The key isn\u2019t another framework, checklist, or model.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Its clarity, focus, and execution are rooted in fundamental truths about the people we serve.<\/p>\n<p>So, hold on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What are we even talking about here?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s strip away the unnecessary and start with the questions that actually matter.<\/p>\n<p>Yours truly<br \/> Paul Syng<\/p>\n<p>PAULSYNG.COM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u265b 21.01.2015 Hold on Read Time: 4 Minutes Hello Hold on.
