{"id":1951,"date":"2024-08-08T19:21:45","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T23:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paulsyng.com\/blog\/?p=1951"},"modified":"2024-08-08T19:23:33","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T23:23:33","slug":"when-your-client-hasnt-heard-of-marketing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulsyng.com\/blog\/when-your-client-hasnt-heard-of-marketing\/","title":{"rendered":"are you losing clients by speaking in &#8216;marketing&#8217; jargon?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>That&#8217;s how I felt when I started my brand consulting firm in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh out of marketing school followed by a short stint as a copywriter, I had ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Big ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The naysayers were quick to chime in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Clients won&#8217;t get it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;ll never pay for it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what I did:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I stopped trying to sound smart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, I focused on being understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No jargon.<br>No buzzwords.<br>Just simple, everyday language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I used stories, examples, and analogies that anyone could grasp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suddenly, clients weren&#8217;t just nodding along &#8211; they were engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you know what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those &#8220;clueless&#8221; clients started writing big checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I took the time to understand them, not the other way around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Word salads are a crutch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How often do we hide behind fancy words to mask our insecurities?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s time to strip away the complexity.<br>Speak plainly.<br>Connect genuinely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your expertise isn&#8217;t in your vocabulary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s in your ability to solve problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So next time you&#8217;re tempted to drop some industry lingo, pause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How would I explain this to someone who&#8217;s never heard of marketing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is my client buying vs. what am I selling?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The magic happens when you bridge that gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, clarity isn&#8217;t just communication and understanding but it&#8217;s about inspiring action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When your message resonates, clients don&#8217;t just nod &#8211; they reach for their checkbooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, are you ready to wake up your clients?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ditch the jargon.<br>Embrace simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all, the best ideas don&#8217;t need fancy wrapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They shine on their own.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That&#8217;s how I felt when I started my brand consulting firm in India.
